HELLO,

The O-Scale 2-Rail GP-35 loco I recently ordered from ebay arrived yesterday, but they sent me an AC-Powered unit that requires a Transformer, and will not work on my DC powered layout.

When I apply power with the loco on my track, the Amps go off-scale and the Voltage is just over zero across the rails.  A direct short!

I'll be contacting ebay today for a return authorization.  It's just as well I guess, because the GP-35 still looks too big with my older era consist.

Maybe I should go for a GP-7 or  GP-9.....or stick with my Mogul.

So it is a "3-Rail" model then?  I guess I didn't realize that Atlas O ever offered "AC-Powered" 2-Rail models.

Yes, a Santa Fe of SP (if ever offered) Atlas O GP7/9 would really be nicer anyway.

HEY HOT WATER,

HOLD EVERYTHING!!!

After probing around the chassis again with my Ohmmeter, I found that the short between the wheels mysteriously disappeared, replaced by a high resistance reading!

The loco now runs great, sound included!  (Although the sound is too loud...)

What a relief that was!
