I recently purchased a layout. In the process of moving it we had to cut the zigzag styrofoam in order to seperate the 4x8 tables. I would like to rebuild the grade and was wondering where to purchase the styrofoam in the attached pictures. The track was also secured with the black material that looks like a tar but is not as sticky as tar. Any ideas?

Woodland scenics fo the risers (zig zag) not sure on the black stuff..
Not sure about the adhesive, but the foam is made by Woodland Scenics. It's part of their "SubTerrain" system of foam for layout building. Should be able to find at a hobby shop near you.
Just use any wood glue on the risers - don't need that tar like stuff. Looks messy to me.

Rubber cement would allow you to move it . if you wanted to change it.
Looks like that tar stuff is also their roadbed material as seem on their website.
Looks like dum dum to me. Very versatile but would never think of using it on a layout.

I believe the black stuff is called "mastic"....that isnt the product name, it's a name that vinyl floor installers use. Or it could be the parging material used for sealing off foundation walls...
Yep. I agree with ^^Dave Ripp. AMI instant roadbed.
