Grass tufts

I want to add several small tufts of weeds/grass on a section of my layout. I have no intention of buying a static grass machine/applicator. Cruising about the Scenic Express website, it appears there are several different options but wanted to get advice here to avoid buying something I won't be able to use.

I'm looking for individual tufts of weeds/grass that I can just glue/stick down onto wood. Not looking for big "mats" of the stuff to lay down, just a package of individual pieces that I can put down where I want.

In particular, I have a large elevated siding built on wood (painted). I would like to add weeds around the track to simulate an abandoned siding.

Posted this in scenery and scrounges corner.
Using Disposable brushes for tall weeds in a small engine case display.
Takes time but worth it.

the scenic express site tufts have a "sticky "bottom. stick very well to wood surface.

Unwinding heavy twine or hemp rope is a good option. Dye it green or leave it natural for dried-out tufts:

Some good ideas above on making your own.

But, the Grass Tufts by Scenic Express are quick and easy. I use full strength white glue to put them in place. I use mainly the 6 mm ones:

It's easy to get a little carried away with them such as on this street scene I did.

You can make your own real easy if you have a static grass applicator. Dots of glue on wax paper or a sheet pan and use whatever color and length of grass you want. Then just stick them down with a drop of glue once they have dried.

Got some tufts today. I ordered several different sizes and colors. I started one package about 40 minutes ago. You guys aren't kidding - these ARE addictive! Can't wait to get the other sizes and colors going as well!
