Will be stopping in the town of Great Lakes over the weekend, anything 0 gauge that I should not miss?

The only "town" that I'm aware of close to that name is Great Lakes Naval Academy. Is that where you'll be? If so, what kind of transportation do you have available and how much free time?

Flying in Thursday, Car rental, Pass in review Friday am, family stuff, flying out Sun PM. Anything local to rt 41 and Belvidere? Or 41 and Rockland?
I do recall the times I have driven through North Chicago it seems that time stands still on the highway. Need to stay somewhat local.
Rockford is too far away, and there’s only two primarily HO hobby shops out there.
Des Plaines Hobby in Des Plaines might be the closest hobby shop with an O selection. Lots of 2 and 3 Rail.
Theres a close by hobby shop in I think Mendelian, IL with Lionel, but it’s primarily an HO shop.
i was just at ChicagoLand Hobby and Berwyn Trains this week. Each of these is further, but IMO, well worth the trip. Tom in Berwyn has an amazing store with a great selection.
Some might recommend Americas Best too, but IMO it’s turned into a bit of a junk shop. Lots of new Lionel at full retail, but also lots of really over priced train show junk box type stuff thrown all around the store.
Thanks guys, off to another adventure!
