I had to head down to Walter Reed for a DR appt today and decided to check the map to see if there were any local train stores (we have a shortage of them in Harrisburg)

I took a longer route through Hagerstown and stopped at The Train Room. What a great store! Large selection of inventory, right next to the rail museum, and some hidden gems!

I found the MTH Trains store, so I snatched that up quickly. I thought it would go great in my city (I'm just in the "getting scenery" stage). I'll put a pic up when I get home.

Next stop was at Engine House Hobbies in Gaithersburg. I got into a great conversation with Ken, and he helped me add a couple pieces of rolling stock to my inventory. (Pics of these as well upon my return).  I had to leave fairly quickly to make it to my appt, but plan on heading back as soon as I'm done here (I barely made it in the door).

If you're in the area, I highly suggest stopping into either of these establishments. A great brick and mortar store is hard to find these days!!!

Hopefully you get to see some of the REAL action at Engine House Hobbies. Ken is a great guy and has a TON of product in the store.

Also - go down the street (about 3 blocks) to the B&O station in downtown Gaithersburg. On display is the #14 Buffalo Creek & Gauley RR 2-8-0 steam engine, a C&O bay window caboose, and a B&O Budd Car, all beautifully restored. There is a community museum in the freight house and a coffee shop in the station. Ken can point you in the direction. Basically pull out of his parking lot, turn right, go about 1/2 - 3/4 mile and the station and displays are on the right at the traffic light. Follow the tracks and if you can't see 'em, I recommend getting your eyes checked!

Most importantly - thank you for your service. I hope the Dr. Appt. went well.
