I am the president of a small model railroad club (28 members), the Rappahannock River Railroaders (http://deltavilleva.com/rappah...k-river-railroaders/).  We wanted to have a special club car made, however, anticipated volumes made it out of the question from the major vendors (we run both O-Gauge and HO-Gauge further compounding the problem).  Late last year I ran a post on this Forum trying to get ideas; the only new suggestion I got was for Buffalo Graphics.  Jon Slater from Buffalo Graphics returned my inquiry and indicated that it was too small an order volume for his company.  Very kindly, he subsequently sent me a note recommending Pleasant Valley Process Company (Seymour Knight; (570) 435-0447; pvprobert@chilitech.net).  I contacted Seymour and found him to be pleasant and helpful.  We came up with a design and he quoted us a very reasonable price for 30 O-Gauge cars and 14 HO-Gauge cars (competitive with just buying off the shelf cars via the Internet or a Train Show).  I have attached a picture showing the finished O-Gauge car that we recently received.  We were tickled with the results; I highly recommend Seymour for any similar needs that you have.

I am also surprised that you were able to get a relatively small run of your club car done at competitive prices.  The cars look really nice, and I can envision Seymour getting more business from other clubs (train and otherwise), mega-layout operators (like Lee mentioned), and train / hobby shops interested in featuring local businesses, sporting teams, schools, etc. on specialized rolling stock.  Thanks for sharing this.

Yes, Seymour does great work and is a legend and a very nice man!  I have 8 different cars redecorated by Seymour.  Along with John Newbraugh he has been decorating cars for the TCA and other organizations since the 1970’s.  There was an article about them in the July 1984 TCA Quarterly magazine.

Seymour used to have a table in the Red Hall but hasn’t come to York for the last few years.
