This is a book recommendation for the readers out there so I figured it goes in the Real Train sub-forum.
Just finished this and it is a fantastic book. The author -- Tom Zoellner -- chronicles his trips on a variety of trains from England to India to Nepal, South America, and the United States (Amtrak from Chicago to L.A) and a few others His observations and commentary are thought-provoking and he covers trains and how they relate to politics, history, economics, and social relations. Sounds a bit fussy but his writing style is entertaining and never boring.
If you like trains -- highly recommended.
