I saw an advertisement for "The Great Train Show" at the Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville this coming weekend. Have you been? How is it? Are there are lot of layouts displayed?
The show is about 2 hours from me and I'd be taking my 5, 3 and 1yr old train loving kids. They frequently ask me if there are any train shows soon. They love layouts. Their interest in isles of engines, accessories and cars is to unshelf them all, play with them all and bring them all home so we can play with them some more. They are great about not touching without permission - but shows that are mostly selling are not fun for them.
4 hours in the car in one day would be a lot for them, I'd probably go down Saturday, get a hotel, let them have fun swimming and do the show Sunday. That's a significant commitment on the pocket book. I'm trying to gauge if it would be worth it for them. I like them loving trains and don't want their memories to be "we were drug to these shows, weren't allowed to play..."
The largest show we've been to so far is the Lakota West High School show in Cincinnati in October.
Thank you for your input.
