I have a question maybe you can help me in this because I have only this black and white picture of this gondola. I bought the protocraft version of Rock Island and I want to paint it I know this gondola is red but what for kind? Is there someone who has it painted or from another brand. I hope someone can help me in this also the decals there is only one side visible on that picture. I also like to see if there are painted in other roads this is a awesome car.

Have you searched TruColor?
The Protocraft web site with the decals for your particular car will show the proper color. The decals they are showing is the color to paint your car. I have the NKP car. I am sure both sides are lettered identically. They are very nice cars.

I don't know if I have scalecoat overhere I will search also.
I bought yesterday this one Atlas gondola of the Union Pacific so I started immediately with weathering technique before I go to the brass one the Protocraft. also use new protocraft trucks beside the atlas, see pictures.
So you see the first attempt here of weathering but I say not finished yet.
Now I bring it to my layout if it is good or not.
Of course I will do the air hose and more detail on it. The inside will be later. The trucks ar not weathered yet.

a little step further I done the air hoses only for the outside not under and weather the car more also with load it is still wet hope it will tomorrow what I looking for the trucks and couplers will be later plus details and final with floquil paint and matte finish.

I have decided not to go more in detail with parts but go continue with the weathering it is a plastic model but I like it. The load is now better but maybe some more on it and I did the rocks with a little bit floquil crime black still I want more also did the trucks.

ok, that is expensive I think but for me the shipment cost is also more than the cost of the decals.
