Guess a Visionline Big Boy

It better be very special.

All 3 of these things are worth me getting excited over!

I don't see any pictures

It says it will be at York vision line big boy .On there Facebook page someone get all the info cause I won't be there

Can you copy the image or take a screen shot and post it, FB is blocked at work so I can't see anything.

The picture is posted in the Original Poster's post.

The top heading states: "SEMINAR TOPICS"  and lists; "Lionelchief"  plus,

"SensorTrack" and "LCS WiFi"  and below is "VISIONLINE Big Boy"

Thus, there are NO photos of a "Big Boy", only the list of "TOPICS".

just guessing, but that looks like a stock photo or artist rendition.  The reason I am guessing that is because that big boy in that picture does not have a wireless drawbar.  Unless Lionel plans to take away a feature that has been standard for many years (which I realize could happen and has), I'm thinking this is more of an artist rendition.

If that's supposed to be a Vision Line Big Boy, it's most definitely NOT Standard O (Scale).  That image looks more like it's either a LionMaster or a K-Line semi-scale Big Boy (or a combination of due to that tether).

The biggest giveaway is the main steam pipes are not connected to the steam chests above the cylinders.  This design is pretty much standard on LionMaster, RailKing & the K-Line articulated engines due to cost constraints (simpler design) and that it does not impede driver swing on curves.  The driver & truck wheels & spacing also look truncated & undersized compared to scale models.

If anything that's simply a teaser image using an old stock photo as Chris above alludes to but definitely not a stock photo of a scale engine. 

The wire tether is what jumps out at me.

yeah, i didn't think it was the real thing either.     did they EVER make a big boy with a wire tether?  i am doubting it.

Anywho, I did look it up on my phone over the cell network.  Being able to hear about the Big Boy would be awesome (and I plan to get one some how), but what struck me was the "LionChief Plus".  Being it was caps and not lower case, I would tend to think it was part of the subject and not a transition.  Could it be that Lionel has listened and added either conventional or TMCC running to the LionChief?  As the system sits now, I'd never spend my money on one.  But if they add conventional or TMCC to them, I'd have no problem getting them.

I'd faint dead away if they included TMCC in the LionChief, I can't imagine them doing that, but it would be very cool!

Thats definitely a huge "teaser", pun intended as well.

Lionel has never produced a bigboy with a tether , Lionmaster, S scale or other wise.

Those weeny little drivers have k line written all over them.

Having said that, it seems Lionel has gotten their hands on much of the  K Line steamer tooling.....and has had a few disappointments lately as well.... nothing on that add says "scale vision line bigboy". Maybe its 1:60 or whatever the K line one is

I love my K-Line Big Boy!  But not sure I'd pony up for another of the same from Lionel if the only difference is the Legacy guts, unless it's no more than $800.

Lionel already did that a few years ago with its Legacy Lionmaster bigboy with whistle steam. The Lionmaster bigboy will negotiate o-36 and IMO is a far better porportioned model than the k line. It would be silly for Lionel to make a vision model of the k line tooling. Having said that, Lionels products have been all over the place on price and features, so who knows?

If Lionel does this engine as Vision line it definitely will be cool and I will be all over it.

But if it's made with the K-Line tooling, then it'll look like the K-Line I do have, and they'll match.  Just saying...

So some one pulls an ancient picture off Lionel's web page and we get pandemonium.

That "ancient picture" is what Lionel's currently using on their Legacy Control System page under "Sytem Features."  Don't blame the guy that pulled that ancient picture, blame Lionel for using that "ancient picture" on that "current" page that he got it from. 

Exactly, I was not believing a Vision Line product was going to have a wired tether.

The Vision Line Challenger has a tether for the speaker in the boiler....  Mine is currently even broken, have to fix that some day.

Yes it's a small tether but not even close as to what's depicted in that ancient photo.

I sure hope they don't make the same mistake of putting a hooter whistle on it gain

I was just told by Lionel spokesman Clyde Coil, the pictured Big Boy is a new product line in the tradition of the Conventional Classics series. Called LTI Classics these engines will feature engine to tender tethers , one chuff per revolution, reduced smoke and unintelligible cab talk along with only the most basic TMCC features.

As he told me the GenXer's are reaching their 50's and Lionel wants to build engines that remind them of the ones they saw in the 1990's.

But I hope this is a joke, unless it's going for $250-300 a unit.  Besides, are most GenXers the types that like being on the edge of new tech, since they helped usher it all in?
