I started a list of commercial available paints that "ALMOST match Lionel's prewar colors.

For you situation you would need the exact color. I would email Olen's or Hennings train's on what your needs are. I know they sell it in spray can and I think bottles too.

Attached is my list of commercial available paints, these would be good on complete repaints and not touch ups. Just remember that your old engine may be a bit different in color due to age and light and exact matching may be hard. It also may be wise to dissemble the part and respray it separately as if done with a brush you may see the brush marks especially with gun metal.

Wal-Mart carries it, too, at least here in central Pennsylvania.  I saw it on the shelves while I was buying the Rust-Oleum the other day.
