Halloween engine..lack there of..

There are layouts people build for Halloween....Busch Gardens had the Nightmare Express.

Martin it is sad at you never had a train running around your pumpkin, poor lad, I hope Santa maid it up to you.

No different than other themes.. Area 51, DC Comics, John Deere, Wizard of Oz, Elvis....oh and lets not forget MTH's Chick Filet. Also, Halloween villages have become extremely popular thanks to Dept 56 and Lemax. Trains and villages are a natural marriage  Check out this Youtube video.

Martin go to you tube and type in Halloween train, you will see many trains circling a pumpkin.

Lionel produced a Halloween version of its "Harry Potter" loco in 2012.  You should look into finding one of those.  Certainly more pulling power than BEEPS or the Transylvania docksider!    Hallows Eve Express LINK

It is amazing just how big Halloween has gotten in the last 10 or 15 years.  It used to really be only for kids.  But it's morphed into this huge thing that people of all ages are participating in.  I think people just like an excuse to break out and have fun.  Any excuse to party.  I know I used to never even like the holiday but I am slowly doing more and more decorating every year for it and this year I will even make a very simple Halloween layout with the Peanuts Halloween Lionel set.  As someone who does not have a permanent layout, the fact that I can extend my Christmas layout with a Halloween layout makes me very happy!

Make Thomas and friends locos ghosts by putting sheets over the loco with eye holes and a hole for the stack, run it with your Halloween themed trains, BOOM! New Halloween loco.

 

I don't get into the holiday trains BUT I did buy one orange & black box car because I liked the color and graphics.

I do agree that a more powerful engine is needed.  My Transylvania RR 4-4-0 can not pull all my Halloween cars.

Lionel missed the boat, I would have liked to seen a lion king plus loco in orange and black steamer with bone rods for drivers and maybe a skull with red eyes in place of the head lights a couple of green bats for marker lights and a whistle that yells BOO!

Those who have seen the Northeast Corridor may remember Amtrak's orange engines that were called... Pumpkins.  MOW GP-7. You can find pictures by searching "Amtrak Pumpkin."

In real life, there is the famous "Haunted Bridge" of Avon, Indiana.  There are several haunting stories involving the bridge.  It is THE defining "mark" of Avon.  The bridge is included on the town's logo.  It may be seen on its police officer's patches!

Me thinks RMT needs to do one...
