Halloween themed-layouts or vignettes

I've been perusing MTH's and Lionel's Halloween-themed trains and accessories. There's a LOT out there, second-only I reckon to Christmas-themed items. With Lemax and Dept. 56 there's quite a lot to work with.

Got to give credit where it is due, the other club members did the set-up. Monday's are my oncology clinic days so I was indisposed you might say.

Our local group has a storefront at our local mall where we run trains for the public the first Saturday of the month. We decorate our layouts in a halloween theme.  This year they hosted MalloWeen the Saturday before Halloween and we had over 2100 kids and parents in three hours.  Here are two shots, one of one of my layout transformed and the other of me, in costume, watching the line of kids and adults streaming through.

Figured I'd "resurrect" this thread vs. starting a new one.  Here's a couple pics of this year's Halloween Diorama.  My first time using a hot wire cutter (man, those are sweet!) I think I'm pretty much done though I might add some more scenery. Anyway, maybe it's a little early for Halloween, but after the summer we had in the Pacific Northwest I'm diving headfirst into Fall!  Hope you all are well!

@Nick R., You are way ahead of me!  Right now my Halloween layout is various parts and ideas.   My biggest issue is first I need to clean the garage!

Nick, I love the training coming out of the Pumpkin. I had a similar idea with a Skull Mountain.

I've been challenged to make spooky scenes on my existing layout...fitting stuff in that looks good is not easy. I have however been working on making Ghost/Zombie/Haunted structures, though I haven't found the ideal location to install them. First up are a couple of RK structures...trying to get the look of spectral-ghostly feel. These have to be taken apart to adequately weather and add figures. First one was painted and 2nd one is stock colors but heavily weathered. They are lit but they're not currently hooked up...they obviously look better lit up...I should've painted the bulbs orange before re-assembling.

Mr. McCormick is seen walking down the sidewalk, apparently oblivious to the walking dead around the corner and within the store. The 2nd picture shows a structure heavily infested with ghosts and walking dead. Figures are by Arttista and Lionel. I am still searching for Frankenstein monster, Wolfman, and a good Dracula (have the Lionel Dracula, not bad looking). Dennis at Arttista may make a Wolfman...his Zombie figure is the best IMO.

Good stuff!  Really like the Addams Family house, the AEC tanker leaking into the pumpkin patch, and the zombies around the corner.

Paul, that scene is awesome!  I think Halloween and Christmas are great themes to model.  I don't currently have a layout so my Halloween & Christmas villages fill that void

Hey guys - here's another ghostly type building I attempted the spectral effects with - it's the 3-story job...I went with a glossy finish to denote spookieness...no figures yet in this one; and this shot has another angle of the Walking dead "around the corner" - the skeletons in the 2nd story corner building are from Arttista. I am currently working on modifying another RK building (Funeral Home) and a  casket company. All very macabre but part of the Halloween fun I still enjoy to this day Obviously, you all feel like me, and so does Lionel given their Halloween line of items, including some Legacy engines with decent sound effects.

I've shown these before in my "Temp layouts built out of COVID boredom" posts but since this is a Halloween thread why not use them again.  The layout was 10' x 12'

Latest Halloween project: New (and mysterious) owner of the Gamer& Thrones. I replaced the toilet on the left (rotating mechanism) with a coffin. Now the coffin rotates - tested and it works! Clearly, the new owner has a macabre sense of humor. Am currently hooking up wiring to power the lights and motor. I also gave the building a light wash of India Ink and alcohol.

Do the workers know the real identity of the owner, an enigmatic man who goes by the name Samuel Boxwell? The two chaps on the right seem to be puzzled at the increased numbers of orders. Stay tuned. Am working on another Halloween-themed building that will help answer this question

This is from last year, its small and simple loop with 027 track and Dept. 56 peanuts figures. I ether operate the Lionel handcar or one of two BEEPS.

In the process of setting up my 2021 Halloween 4x8 layout while watching the Dodgers vs Giants in the baseball playoffs.

After making a point the past 10 years to make every Halloween 🎃 and Christmas layout different from the year before,  I've decided to do a set track plan and stick with it. I didn't purchase the switches in time so for the Christmas layout in a few weeks the Inner O-31 loop will include a Figure 8.  The Outer Loop is O-42.

I have a long long way to go.  This will be 4 yrs in a row for the Halloween night garage display.   Big upgrades this year.  I  just got a new table built and have another small one to go tomorrow night.  So so much to do....

I upgraded the layout and add a siding.

Had planned on updating last year's version but the old adage of "best laid plans of mice and men" holds true.

Had barely started on updates/revisions when a detached & torn retina made EVERTRHING come to  a screeching halt. Three plus hour surgery so I'll be lucky if restrictions are lifted by December. 

Fun and artistic layouts, everyone.

Other than some customized buildings I've been working on, with a few being placed into the layout, I haven't gotten much else done with respect to Halloween.

In this building, vampire-zombies wait in the shadows for the sun to go down. The structure itself is in the midst of decay - a sure sign that something sinister is at work.
