I am planning to take part on a tour of the oldest still operating New York City transit substation on November 17th. This substation was built in 1900 to first power the then BRT trains on the Broadway Brooklyn line from Fulton Ferry to Broadway Junction that had been using 0-4-0 Forney steam locomotives as did the other elevated lines up to that time. About 25 years ago the rotary converters were replaced by computerized solid state equiptment. The substation is located next to the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburgh Bridge.
