My deal old dad is gone 33 years this week.  Miss him still.  When I got out of the Army, he and mom were cleaning house.  "Are you sure you don't want to take your trains?" he asked.  Just to please him I said sure, why not.  Little did I know that in years to come I would have 3 sons (and grand sons) who love toy trains but wouldn't if pop didn't ask me that question so long ago.  Thanks, Dad.

Hi Chuck,  welcome aboard, your first post was perfect!!!!!!

Alex

Kind of a weird day for me.  My first Father's Day without one....he just passed away about 36 hours ago!  While he wasn't really a train guy, per se, his life intersected with trains in a couple of interesting ways, which I'll pass along in another thread when I have a bit more time to get my thoughts together.

Right now I'm busy with various arrangements and details.  This Forum is a nice temporary diversion though.  That and running trains for a few minutes here and there, of course!

Mike,

So sorry to hear about your dad, my condolences to you and your family

Alex

Mike,

my condolences on your loss.  My first father's day without a dad too.  I lost my Dad in March very unexpectedly and it was kind of rough off and on through out the day.  On the flip side I had my young son with me throughout the day and had a great time with my family playing mini-golf.

Got my first train set for Christmas when I was somewhere between 5 and 7 years old.  It was marked as being from Grandma and Grandpa but I know Dad picked it out.

He gave me so much, in his quiet reserved way, and asked little in return.

I miss you Dad.  Happy Father's Day.
