I tried to look this up to get some more information on that facebook thing.    I don't have a facebook account for numerous reasons.    They would not let me look at anything unless I signed up and created an account and they wanted more personal information than I am willing to give.

I guess I will never learn about this meet.

I don't have Facebook access either and I'm perplexed as to why anyone thinks it's needed.

Meet is advertised in both O scale publications = there's a flyer in the 1st post that gives you all the information you need to attend....

Too many shows in the same area too closely scheduled.

Strasburg two weeks later and then York two weeks after that. All in the same basic area. I know Strasburg and York appeal to different parts of the market.

Yeah, but they are both contractually locked into their respective venues.  But, we are blessed to have as many 2 rail meets as this.... I'm hopeful that the respective owners of the shows can work out better dates going forward.

And, the content at Harrisburg is very different than at Strasburg.  There's some overlap, but the majority of what's at these 2 shows is strikingly different.  Strasburg basically has no kit and structure vendors, and pretty limited on new detail part suppliers.

well there was a teaser on the post with the flyer that said for more information go to their facebook page.    The flyer just gave the date, place and fee.

I thought the "more information' might include a list of vendors and maybe photos of previous shows, or some other detailed information on the meet.    maybe a list of the clinics and presentations mentioned.

For me it would be an 8 hour drive minimum and date and place is not enough to entice me so close to the Chicago show.

At some point in the very near future people will end up choosing one or the other. If they end up having the same vendors at both, most people won't go to both shows. Why pay an admission fee for one when the same merchandise from the same vendors is out on the table again?

And if they don't have the same vendors at both, then most will support the show that has the vendors with the merchandise they want to buy.

As for the contracts one enters into in business, every business that makes poor business choices deserves to go out of business.

For those without Facebook, the only additional information on the Facebook page is that Allan Carroll's large collection will be for sale (15 tables).  There is no vendor list posted.

The show is different from Strasburg (and TCA of course) and well worth attending for 2 Rail or 3RS modelers.  A lot of structure kits and details are usually available, plus the usual assortment of 3Rail rolling stock that the 2 Railers are unloading.

Odd complaint about too many shows close together.  I confess that I have attended 2 trains shows on the same day.  Never saw that as a problem.

That's just it - it's not the same vendors. In fact, Harrisburg has far more commercial vendors than Strasburg.

That's a problem at Strasburg. Some of the vendors there have had the same stuff on their tables for 5-6 years,

And if they don't have the same vendors at both, then most will support the show that has the vendors with the merchandise they want to buy.

Yes, so I guess that if you want structures and details on your layout you go to Harrisburg and if you want to look at the same tired overpriced brass on the same tables from the same guys, then it's Strasburg

While true, also probably not actually even relevant to this story either. Both are doing well; one is growing while the other oddly appears to be struggling a bit with declining table sales.  One has very good food and helps you unload and set up; the other does not.

I do both since then I can sell to two rather different audiences.

Rarely a vendor list posted for most shows; maybe a tease or 3-5.

Yup. Different audience, structure kits and details, etc.

2 shows beats 0 shows.
