I am planning on picking a couple Harry Hieke false fronts models at York this year. Has anyone ever worked with his kits before? What is the difficulty level? Do they have any idiosyncrasies that need to be accounted for?? Any other insights or experiences?

Thank you in advance.

We have a few of HArry's structures on the layout.  The only one that was purchased as a kit was the brewery  Harry sells this as two separate fronts  We purchased two of each and Alex M put it together for one building  He said there was a lot of trimming on the corners because it really wasn't meant to be one building but it came out awesome.

I think you purchased an MTH P&LE caboose from me a while ago.

Yes I did and I display it proudly!

blueline,

What were the names of the two kits? I see one named "false front brewery" which has the beer bottle on top. What was the name of the second kit? I don't see a natural match.

Marty and others who may believe they have  no room for building........ Harry makes several buildings of purpose designed to sit over existing sidings and right of ways.

He literally can provide a building of any size or configuration to sneak in anywhere and make it look like it has been there for 50 years.
