I have two MTH Christmas sets with Cabooses.
10-1209-1 Lionel #10 Set with 512 Christmas Lines Red Caboose with green roof
10-1199-1 Lionel #9 Set
Similar caboose on ebay
Mine has brass trim and different # and name plates.
The 2009 and current 2012 Lionel Corporation's tinplate Standard Gauge Christmas freight sets both come with 500 series Christmas cabooses.

I made up my Christmas 500 series freight using the 2009 set Bob mentioned (11-5002-1) which gives you the Christmas caboose and gondola along with the 384 and tender; added the three 500 series Christmas boxcars that Lionel made for 1989, 1990, and 1991 (can be found on ebay from time to time); and finished with the 11-30080 Christmas coal car. Makes a nice 500 series freight set all done up for Christmas. Preiser makes a 1/32 Santa ringing a bell who fits nicely on the back deck of the caboose.
Christmas Coal Car. That is too funny.

Well, if you're getting into the nitty gritty of supplying Santa, it stands to reason, doesn't it? The train just didn't seem complete without it.
I would like to see a Hot Cocoa 515 tank car. Might have to paint one up. What else? A 511 flat car with his sleigh on it?
This tank car is IMHO one of the most attractive Christmas theme freight cars I have seen in tinplate.
Phil, do you have these available? I did not realize this was a 500 series standard gauge. Would round out the train nicely.
I'll call you at the store tomorrow.
Have there been seperate sale cabeese? Are there retailers who break up standard rtr sets?
I might just get a beater 517 and paint it white and red.
Phil, the Christmas 515 tank car arrived and it's great! Thank you! I like my 500-series Christmas freight!

Agreed; trains aren't rare, steak is rare. But if he meant that it's pretty unusual to see this caboose offered for separate sale, he does have a point.

Thank you Hojack. I really like your layout. So clean and bright makes it fun to look at.
I love the natural light shining in.
I look forward to building a small tinplate layout in my new "train room" someday, and would like to use yours to inspire mine. My personal tinplate collection has grown, but no place to run it!
Have a Merry Christmas!

Thank you Phil,
This is a little off topic from J's caboose, but the layout took shape in the old hayloft of a dairy barn. A couple photos from during construction, it's a little more filled in now. If you ever are over this way, drop a line and let me know, you'll get the grand tour.
