Noticed it may be an opportunity... GN, PRR, and the UP had these locomotives, however if you look closely they are very different...

PRR:

Both with a Belpaire Firebox... and larger drivers...

And the UP photographed at Butte Montana, very cool place I might add... note no Belpaire Firebox:

A "close" look is not required - the differences are obvious.

The PRR 2-8-8-0 (an HC-1 - the only HC-1, I think) at the top is another one of those big, bizarre Pennsy experimentals - I'd love to have one. That's a hint, Mr Lionel and Mr Wolf.

Yes - the ROW is a well-running scale loco; I have the UP version. Mechanically it is made like the MTH RK/Lionel Lionmaster articulateds - 2 motors, and both engines swivel like trucks. Not "accurate" but these big locos look good on big curves and will take small ones well for a 1:48 loco.

Or Mr. Scott Mann.

Given  the slavish devotion of PRR foamers (includes me....), I'd bet that a Sunset/3rd Rail PRR version would sell.

Yes, you 2 rail guys are set, I am jealous... but in three rail? Sounds like an engine that 3rd rail may produce.... but sure would be nice as a Vision Line release?

There's been lots of stuff made in 3R that has never been done in 2R & vice versa. The PSC Moose is why I'm in 2R now. It was my "must have" & after it arrived, I began searching for other UP locomotives not offered in 3R. There's lots of them: 4-6-2, 2-10-2, 4-8-2s, etc...

IF Scott Mann does a UP Moose I'll order a few. Scott will do it right and with all the correct details.

Vision Line? No thanks-to much extra cost for a fancy name, gimmicks & die cast.  Not to mention questionable QC.

The Moose is such an awesome locomotive. Really surprised no other manufacturer has produced one other than PSC-in 2 or 3R!

I know asked about a PRR HC1 to 3rd Rail @ York (don't remember who) a year or two back and was told there hadn't been much interest expressed in such a project... I guess other Pennsy oddballs took over the mindshare. I'd love to have one, especially if they can get the coupler-busting propensity of the original to be modeled as well
