Hey guys. First, before all the bashing....I know I could pick up a phone and call him.

However, here at work (where I spend most of my awake hours) it is much more discreet to send email instead of talking on the phone. By the time I get home, his office is closed. My cell phone service at my office is spotty at best.

I sent Steve an email last week discussing my large purchase I plan to make for new layout. I wanted to work out some details to make the purchase and then deliver everything to York in October.  I have gotten no response. Just wondering if this is normal?

Steve supplies an email address on his site.  I guess I find it hard to believe that a manufacturer in 2016 does not use electronic communication devices or "check his mail at least daily".

I use ROSS products exclusively and plan to continue.

Thanks for any response.

Donald

Absolutely... pick up the phone and CALL if you need a quick response.  He may be on vacation or taking a few days off during the Summer, and somebody in the office can confirm that for you.  While we all like quick feedback from an email, if it was sent directly to him (rather than a generic company email), he may not be checking his emails daily if on vacation.  Sometimes I do, but most times I don't.

Then again, the email may simply have not gotten through to him.  I've seen that time and time again -- even here on the forum for-sale board.  I send somebody an email, and they say they never received it.  Or they send me an email, and I don't receive it.    Suffice it to say, email has its share of gremlins nowadays -- often linked to increasing trends of ISP's to tag certain email servers with a low SPAM score... and thereby rejecting incoming email messages without even letting the sender know the email didn't go through.    For the most part email is reliable, but there are enough times I've run into hiccups with it that I don't generally jump to unnecessary conclusions.

Bottom line... use the old-fashioned telephone device sitting on your desk.  Sometimes it runs circles around our higher tech alternatives.

Good Day Donald,

Help me understand why you have not purchased a better cell phone?

Ahhhh...not the problem with the cell phone. Maybe my area just does not have sufficient coverage?

The last two times I called Ross Custom Switches (I ordered some relays recently), Steve answered the phone.  Some businesses do better with email, some with phone and maybe there are some that are great at both.  I consider it a success if I can consistently reach someone in one of these ways.  Take the advice here and use the telephone.  It will work, you'll get what you need and the issue will be resolved.  BigRail
