In early October 2021 I arranged for a very reputable train repair business, who is one of our Forum sponsors, to fix a LionChief+ locomotive in which the smoke feature was not working. It otherwise worked fine.

Th e smoke feature of this engine is still not repaired because the repair business tells me it needs a new circuit board and they have been unable to get that board.

Have such circuit boards been very difficult for train repair businesses to get since October 2021?

The only argument to the overwhelming fact that John mentioned is.

It was once said that Lionel obtains the parts by parting out completed extra  locos that were ordered during the original run.

Maybe this has changed?

An item number of the loco in question can enable the average Joe to look up the part and verify its availability.

It seems many of our " forum techs" have better luck obtaining parts and completing repairs than alot of the "Authorized Repair Shops".

Generic queries about an "engine" that needs parts are pretty useless without an exact product number.  I know I keep singing this song, it's because nobody picks up on the words to the song.

I don't have the box, but the engine is the LionChief Plus Erie Camelback, and the circuit board is the one involved with the smoke feature.

I will try to Google it to find the product number.
