A little off topic, but since this is a York thread...

At a meet this large, do you just wander around the different halls looking for the trains you want to buy? Or is there a "system"? I could see looking to attend in a year or two when I get a little more serious about collecting.

Mine arrived today.

Observations / questions...

The fairgrounds map (middle of booklet, after p. 8) identifies the location of the Yellow hall.  However, only Orange and Purple are listed as dealer halls, and Yellow isn't listed under member halls.  To further complicate matters, a hall captain is listed for Yellow (p. 8), and the hours for Yellow are listed for members on page 4.  Does anyone know if dealers or members (or nobody) will be in Yellow?

Couldn't find any mention of TCA's sale booth - used to be at the museum, was in Yellow in October.  Anyone know any details?

It's not just for collectors - modular groups will have operating layouts, and a lot of items are available for those who run their trains.

As for a strategy, it's really simple - bring a large vehicle and lots of cash.  For a more serious discussion of approaches to the meet, there are numerous topics in the York meet section on the forum.

Got mine Saturday, looking forward to it. Glad it's three days again.

Just as an advertisement, I'll be selling off all the accessories I've collected over the years. All postwar, no Military or Space, and they all work. I'll post where I'll be when I find out.

I'm 69, and it's time to start thinning things out so my wife won't have to deal with it.

See You At York!
