Today I got a quick look at a magazine that had pictures of Lionel dealer displays, pictures of the Lionel showroom & a lot more. I'm going out looking for it tomorrow. it sells for $12. Maybe I am the last to know about it.

OK so, what is the title?
It's a special issue devoted to Lionel display layouts from OGR's competitor. Check their website if that works for you.
You can name the "competitor" if you wish. It's Kalmbach Publishing.
Just published. I got my copy at York. Roger Carp autographed it.
Ordered my copy of it months ago and got it in October. It's a comprehensive look at the history and production of Lionel Dealer Displays and Layouts. Includes the smaller "step" type displays as well as the larger 4x8, 5x9, and 8x8 layouts that most of us are familiar with.
Loaded with color pictures of many displays along with plans for building some of them.
EDIT: They also did a special issue earlier this year (or last year) on Classic Lionel Accessories.
The term "Golden Years" brings back a Lionel memory. 1950 was Lionel's 50th Anniversary, the Golden Anniversary. To celebrate, they issued a special catalog with a gold-colored cover. The inside pages were not the flashy colors of the regular catalogs. I had one but it vanished when I was away at college. I've never seen another
Does anyone out there in forumland also recall this catalog.
On a whim while I was at the LHS I bought "The Golden Years" and that tripped my trigger to build my first crude layout from scrap lumber and Homosote to run my pre-war Lionel on. Have had a good time the last 3 years wasting my time on O gauge and a little Standard gauge railroading. More fun. Waiting for my Lionel engine from a forum member-I think my 9th purchase. Better than deBay. Thanks to all for making the OGR forum a success.

I do recall seeing images of such a catalog offered at auction as I was assembling a collection of catalogs after the turn of the century/millennium. Matter of fact, Stout offered one at auction in 2011:

I have a regular 1950 consumer catalog and the illustrated envelope in which it was mailed to the original recipient at an address in Philadelphia, but Lionel also issued a two-color catalog when the supply of the four-color catalogs was exhausted:

What, me worry?

I have a copy in excellent condition that I found at an antique shop a few years ago. It is a pretty cool item, especially since that was my birth year.

Yes. I have one.

Thanks for the responses.
As a guy who owns a company that reproduces Lionel dealer display posters, this was a welcome magazine for me. I contributed a few images to the issue and Roger Carp was able to track down other really unusual items.
Between this issue and the Lionel Showroom issue from a few years back, these have filled two very significant holes in my mind of Lionel subject matter.
And of course 1950 was the year of the release of the UP ALCO "Anniversary Set."
Best Layouts and store displays is the fifth in a series:
1. Lionel layouts at the New York Headquarters
2. The Golden Years 1950-1954
3. The golden Years 1955-1959
4. Lionel Accessories
