Having Trouble Soldering Leads on Ross Center Rail

Grind off some of the black with a Dremel ;-)

Are you soldering to the underside of the rail and not the side? Also you may need to sand the spot a little before soldering if stainless steel track.

Truth is I never thought of the Dremel to remove the black! Thanks for that!

Yes, trying the underside. Have scratched some of the black off with a tiny screwdriver. The result is decidely not pretty but, as long as it works, ballast will eventually hide it.

I use the gargraves lockon clips and solder them to the underside of the track.  That's just another option.  That's what Ross powered tracks have.

Terry, whether it's the top of the rail, or the bottom side, use the thin fiberglass cutoff wheel in your Dremel and grind a shiny spot to solder to. We do all of our drops underneath as well, and that thin cutoff wheel works great to get a bare spot for soldering.
