I'm working on a 300 engine and I can't get the head lamp to work. I have checked power to the socket and I have checked the bulb, both are good. but when I put the bulb in the socket it won't work. any suggestions?
Make sure the solder tip on the socket end of the bulb is making contact with the center of the socket. You can lengthen it if necessary by adding a bit of solder to the tip, carefully, with a soldering iron.
Bulb is too short. This is a known problem with many imported bulbs. Either get some quality US made replacement bulbs or put a small clipping of solid copper wire down in the center base contact. I did the latter so I could use up some imported bulbs I had. Some people put a bead of solder on the center contact in the socket.
