Just a heads up, NS Lehigh Valley Heritage Unit ES44AC #8104 is leading an NS eastbound empty coal I assume is heading back to the coal plant of Shire Oaks south of Pittsburgh. Anyway latest location of 8104 is at Chesterton Indiana at 10:04AM. I'll keep replying to this topic to keep it up to date on locations. But if he's at a location getting close to Amherst, then I'll be heading out to see him. I hoping though he comes around evening because generally any trains after 9:30AM passing the Chesterton Railcam, don't show up south of Cleveland till after 7PM. Issue is, I got a message from someone stating this - " That "should" be a 553 BUT those coal empties could go anywhere. At times those empties will hit Bellevue and go south. Anyone's guess."  So the routing could go to Bellevue and head south to Fort Wayne line and head east through Wooster, Canton, into Alliance. As for the routing of this train, he's takes the NS Chicago Line through Indiana into Toledo, and sometimes east to, Amherst, Berea, Cleveland then down the Cleveland Line through Bedford, Macedonia, Ravenna, Rootstown, Alliance and heading east through Sebring, Columbiana, PA/OH border, Rochester PA, Conway PA, etc.

Photo below is what a friend sent me of the photo capture he got of 8104 passing the cam. Reason why the camera time in the photo is 9:04AM and not 10:04AM is because Chesterton is part of the Central Time Zone.

I wish they would bring this to Sayre!!

Yea, some locations don't see Heritage Units for a long time. I remember when 8104 didn't show up along the NS Lake Erie District between Cleveland and Buffalo till this year Jan 2017. The first time 8104 took the line. And this unit along with the others came out in 2012. So almost a full 5 years. That's a long time. I I do wish you luck that you will see it sometime.

tr18, great photo. As to recent location on 8104, I have no clue. There's hasn't been updates. So I'll pass seeing him today as I don't know when he'll arrive nearing Cleveland. Anyway, if people want to still see automatic updates, here's a link to 8104 - https://www.heritageunits.com/...motive/Detail/NS8104

Sayre Historical society has a History fair Sept 9th at the station would be nice to have heritage ubit at the Station.  here is link to home page!  http://sayrehistoricalsociety.org/post.php?pid=70   hopefully it will work!!

Also have a interest in my Great Grandfather was Master Mechanic for the Pennsylvania & New York System and later the Lehigh Valley. He was instrumental in construction of the Sayre "big shop"

We still have this family item!

From The Elmira Daily Advertiser Thursday   July 28 1887

          Seven Pieces of Silver

What Master Mechanic Weaver received from 135 Lehigh Engineers.

Sayre, Pa July 27--- The banquet in honor of Master Mechanic Weaver last evening was a grand event to those who were so fortunate to be one of the engineers or an invited guest. The banquet was at Mr. Weaver’s house whither the engineers went about 9 PM. It was Mr. Weaver’s forty-third birthday, and the 135 engineers under him presented him an elegant silver set of seven pieces.  On the silver tray was engraved the following:

“Presented to J N Weaver MM by the Engineers of the Pennsylvania & New York System July 26 1887”

Of the 135 engineers on the Lehigh Sixty were present  at the banquet.  W B Heckman formerly an engineer on the Lehigh, now a train dispatcher at Buffalo, in a few words which he referred in a feeling way to Mr. Weaver’s popularity and the high place which he held  in the esteem of the engineers, presented the gift. Mr. Weaver responded appropriately referring to the great growth of the Pennsylvania & New York systems of railways.  When he took charge in 1868 there were only 9 engineers on the part in his charge, 5 of whom were present at the banquet and still on the road.  After Mr. Weaver’s address of thanks, a fine supper was partaken, concluded by singing and speeches   by Dell Vaughn, Miles Ellis, Rufus R Wilson, associate editor of the Elmira Telegram, J W Bishop and others.

and we share the same July 26th birthday!

Well I didn't see 8104 today. I just wanted to stay home with the family for Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Plus afternoon storms were not nice. Anyway, 8104 did come through Cleveland. But 8104 passed through Berea at 7:56PM and then Bedford at 9:08PM and latest known location is Alliance at 10:18PM. So anyway it was fun to keep track but not fun for the storms. But it was nice being the family for Memorial Day. Happy Memorial Day to OGR.
