I really would like to see the helium car made in 3RS. The USNavy and several others had this car. Lionel or MTH, these would be a sell out If made.

How do they keep the car from floating up into the air like a helium balloon?
If one is made, I hope that it would be made in die-cast metal. Because if it were to be made of plastic, we might need to add weight to keep it on the track!
It would be an interesting model to own though. I hope that somebody may make one.

Hey, our U.S. Navy has made use of a lot of Lionel technology through the wars/years!!

I must start typing faster. You beat me to it.
Didn't Atlas offer them in HO?
Didn't Atlas offer them in HO?
AHM had them decades ago in HO. Atlas had them in N.
As to floating away, there's an article in the latest MR about upgrading the old AHM model. The article states these were one of the heaviest freight cars around. Plus, helium when compressed, loses its buoyancy.
Now, upsiedaisium is a different matter...

It appears easy to scratch-build. Take a bulkhead flat, box the ends and add some plastic tubes for the tanks. A few pieces of Plastruct for the cross bracing and you are done.
I bet MTH will have one out soon. With all the cars made so far they have to be running out of new ideas! And I'm sure, when it comes out it will cost about $69.99 because no one else has one on the market yet!

Yes, upsidasium is carried in this kind of car.
Here a a few pictures of the Pecos River car. The end doors actually open to reveal the tank ends and their piping. These cars are brass and quite heavy. Even in plastic the car would be heavier than normal because of the amount of material needed to model the tanks and internal bulkheads. They usually go for $300-$400 whenever they appear on ebay.

To qualify your statement maint, you said nothing new. I dont expect to see anything new from either company and Atlas only announces new things, they dont usually build them
I am going to build mine without the opening ends.
