I have a new DCS system and my remote just shuts down on it's own during use. I put new batteries on it so that's not it. This happens while I'm using it so it's not the inactivity timer. Any thoughts?

Are the batteries coming loose. Does the back cover have the foam strip installed? G
Checked the batteries and yes they were loose in there so reseated them and seems to have done the job. Thanks! Weird because I had just installed new ones & they were well seated when I did that so it seems they come loose even w/ the door closed. Yes the foam backing is in the back of the cover.

Yes, they can, particularly if you set the remote down too forcefully on a hard surface.
I added a thin layer of foam in addition to the factory piece, solved the problem. One of my remotes would shut even if gently set on a table before the addition.
I've been pretty gentle w/ the remote so it's not a setting it down to forcefully but I think I see the problem. I think the foam pad in there is not thick enough to hold the batteries from shifting out of place. I checked on it again & they are coming loose already so that's probably what's going on. I'll add a bit of foam to see if that helps.
Wondering if this is why I've been having problem recording custom sounds. I'll have to check...

Just be careful not to make it too thick or you'll stress and swell the battery compartment door.
The remote has a few design flaws, mainly the battery compartment. Even with extra foam and padding mine is problematic. Stretch the springs clean the contacts, add the padding and you will still get shut offs.
