Earlier this year I was given a box of old and broken Lionel stuff.  Some of it is junk, but others could be saved with some work.  One of them is an old metal bodied Madison passenger car.  It's brown paint is pealing and flaking off, the fogged plastic over the windows warped and the trucks broken, missing axles, and are rusted.  I can clean the body and repaint it and cut new windows at work.  I'll also put LED lighting in it.  But the trucks are another issue.  I have a MTH Rugged Rails Madison coach, 33-6212 that I like, and actually plan to paint the old Lionel car to match so that I have another car for my mixed consist trains.  The trucks on the MTH car are perfect for use on the Lionel car.  They are not as short as the Lionel ones that were on the car, but they are shorter than those on my other MTH Madison car, 30-69039.  Importantly though is that the truck mount to coupler distance is the same, but I can't figure out the part number of them.  So can anyone help me figure out what I need to order to get 2 complete trucks; frame, wheels, couplers, and pickups.  Or if someone has a set, that'd be grand too.  Thanks.

Not to dis MTH Parts Dept; I'm just not familiar with them any longer,

but Lionel's Replacement Parts on their website is something that I use all the time for scratch building/bashing projects. They might have a new Lionel part/truck that will do the trick, and they will answer inquiries about repairs and parts. Lots of exploded views

and parts photos, too.

Easy credit-card ordering; parts usually arrive within 1 week.

Also: Olsen's Toy Train Parts has stuff - I've never talked to them, as I do mostly

modern projects - but I have ordered from them.

And Da Bay has parts.

I was thinking the MTH ones since I had an example on hand.  I'll have to hunt around on Lionel's site to see if there are any O27 Madison cars I like that I could try finding the truck for.  Thanks.

I've ordered parts from both systems and have gotten what I've ordered, but that was always knowing the part number I needed which is simple for newer locomotives from both.

EDIT: Well, lucky me.  I went to the bay and found some pricey options for trucks.  So I decided to look for Madison cars from Lionel and found out that in 1991 they reissued my coach.  So I looked it up on Lionel's site, and sure enough they have the complete trucks in stock!  So I'll be ordering them.
