"HELP" finding a "FEMALE ENGINE" to Run With Thomas Series

Unfortunately, there's only one lady locomotive on the Sodor roster: Emily, a Sterling Single.

The only one available is in HO from Bachmann, as far as I'm aware.

There are several female train characters in the Thomas stories (And evolution thereof.). There is a character named 'Lady' too, although I don't know of any manufacturer who makes one. Perhaps the illustration of this discontinued wooden model may help you to custom paint a suitable 'donor' to suit?

Looks like LADY would be easy to make from a Thomas......repaint and a face mod should do it.....

Emily is made in HO and G.....I have the HO version.....WbB do it in O scale I'd have to have it!

If you want to know who lady is watch "Thomas & the Magic Railroad" from 2000.  That was the first time I had heard of the engine called Lady, the purple engine.

With the wooden Thomas trains there is an engine named Belle used for search and rescue missions.

My Grand Daughter & Grandson have that Movie. I think that's where she saw it!!!

I am guessing that your grand daughter is referring to the engine in carguy's post.  I have not seen this in O gauge.  My best guess would be to get something close, like a k-line porter (closest thing I could think of - help me out here fella's!)  and start masking and painting.  In the long run a train you put some of your own effort into will always mean more than one you only purchased!

Right now Lionel only produces Thomas, James, Percy, and Diesel in their O gauge Thomas line.

It really is amazing. I recall reading in OGR some time ago that the Williams' Girls sets were huge sellers for them. I have had scale engines painted pink for my granddaughters. I must say, they like them better than the Thomas engines, but the youngest granddaughter who plays with trains is 5 now. The 3 week old one will get there.

Lionel did show pics of  Mavis the lady diesel shunter. I think she was based on a BR Class 03. But they decided to do Diesel instead. 

I do think we are overdue some new Thomas Friends from Lionel. James and Diesel are a bit dodgy. So a bit more quality and accuracy are needed on the next loco they do.

Fred, like others have said, see if she has a favorite engine type you may then custom paint in her favorite colors for one engine and then try to duplicate Lady on another.
