Folks,

I was given a box containing some postwar trains.  One of the items in the box was a steam locomotive.  The shell was separate from the frame.  The shell had been painted over covering the engine number.  There was no tender in the box.  The loco is missing the entire rear truck assembly and tender bar.  The engine works very well considering it had not seen daylight in many years. I even put a couple of drops of liquid smoke in it and it started smoking.

I want to clean this up and get the necessary parts that are missing.  I "think" this might be  646 or 2026.  But I would like to get confirmation of the model number from someone more knowledgeable than me (which is probably everyone else on the forum).  I just need to be sure I am getting the right parts.

If you need better pictures or pictures from a different angle let me know.

I appreciate your help.

Ed

The motor is modified from the proper one I think, as the reverse I don't believe should be on the backside there.

The E-unit does belong in the back, on that odd, homemade looking bracket.

Here is a picture I lifted from Ebay.
Reminds me that Ed's motor probably has magnetraction, because the frame on his appears to be aluminum.

Folks,

Thanks for all the help.  BTW this engine does have magnitraction.  Now I know what it is, I can order the correct parts.

Even though this will get very little run time, I just can't stand to see any postwar stock in disrepair.  I get a lot of enjoyment from fixing PW stock and then see it running as it did some 60 years or so ago. Maybe because I was a Lionel kid in the 50's

Thanks again,

Ed
