My Dad gave me this engine many years ago. It is numbered 2401. Can't find a listing for this number anywhere. Can anyone tell me what engine this is?

It looks like a prewar Lionel 225E with the feedwater heater on the top of the boiler. It also has a 675, 2025, or 2035 boiler front. The number 2401 looks like it was put on via decal. I guess you have a custom 225E with postwar parts and custom detailing, quite unique I must say.
Thanx! Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for some 225E parts to get it back to original. Appreciate your help.
definatly a 225E. Looks great, might want to leave it the way Dad had it, unless he bought it that way.
I believe it to be a 225E as well!
Definitely leave it as is; you've got the only one.
Thanx everyone! Dad fixed trains for local hobby shops. He probably "built" this one. Keeping it like it is would have sentimental value. Good idea!
The only change I would make is to replace the sheet metal rear truck with a 225E-12 style cast truck.
Great runner and would you believe ... puller as well. Quality engine.

I was thinking that myself. I love my 225E. sees Christmas duty every year.
