Help me make up my mind on paint scheme

Combine Western Pacific orange and Utah Belt yellow on the front. Make the back dark green or black.

Have yellow and orange graphics on the black or dark green long hood.

On the end of the long hood have yellow and orange stripes.

Yeah,the Western Pacific scheme is quite catching huh? 

As a former resident of Michigan, I am inclined to say the Ann Arbor/DT&I scheme. However, 2 schemes you may not have thought of that would be worth looking into: CNW Maroon and cream (?) scheme, and the GN Orange and green.

How about Reading Northern colors. Nice green for Pacific northwesr with some yellow in with it, easy to apply.

For me the kodak colors of the SP/SF merger, the SP daylight colors, the wabash gp-9 colors, and the UP yellow/gry always catch my eye.  Second place would be the northern pacific gp-9 and burlington northern green/black/white.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here?  Why would a A&C engine have NCVA written on it and be in NC???

I have always liked Eric's Utah Belt but I'm thinking a bit different starting out like

and making the front and back more like Eric's.

At Bob Del bridge  it's a Genesee & Wyoming locomotive. They own several railroads and their equipment is all over the countryb

I Like the old school BN Green and Black with white stripes. But then again I really like the black and orange swoosh.

I have decided to go with the western pacific inspired scheme. Gonna do orange nose. Pilot and rear with Brunswick Green everywhere else. I think it will look nice 

Here is the first project getting the new paint scheme...my SD35 and I must say I am loving the choice...looks a lot redder in pics than in person though...

WP scheme does hit me right, also (too late, but I would have suggested the SP black/orange switcher scheme or at least color combination as a similar, but even better, look).

The "Desert Belt" scheme was in the running for me only because you could run a dinner train and letter the equipment "Dessert Belt".

I like the SP tiger stripe scheme but I can't find chevrons and I sure don't want to mask them. 

Here it is with some of the dry transfers on as well.

Gotta finish the rear pilot. Add side window glazing and some other finishing touches and she will be done. Then I'll grab some snaps of er on the new diorama I am building and show it in good light . I am very happy with the WP scheme though.

It's actually a dark green.  WP never used blue.

You could do what PHL (Pacific Harbor Lines), a branch/interchange line servicing the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach did for a while. They used classic paint schemes from fallen flag roads (SP, ATSF Zebra, Conrail, CNW, WP, and others) as the "base" with "Pacific Harbor Lines" lettering on the long hood and "PHL" and the road number on the sides of the cab. They've since settled on the ATSF Zebra striping for their current fleet as it consists of Gensets and rebuilds that comply with emissions laws, but if you're modeling a branch line, you can pretty much do what you want with regards to motive power paint schemes.
