I have a pre-proto MTH GG-1 that I have been running for a few years now. It is not scale. Just recently it will derail every-so-too-often when traversing an O-36 Fastrack remote switch. It has never had a habit of doing that before. The track sections are screwed in place every three or four sections. I don't think anything has moved. Does anyone have ideas as to what is causing the recent rash of derailments?

who derails, pilot or power truck
most I have had were caused by wire restriction

Have you looked at the track really closely? Another possibility is the wheels on the engine need cleaning and the track needs to be cleaned.
Take a level device and see if your track is level, I had a couple of engines that were picky about going through switches because of using Gargraves switches with adapter pins to O gauge track.
Do you have an accessory track or uncoupling track near the switch? That could be your problem as well.

The track does need cleaning. I'll check the rest of it out... Thanks.
I don't know that much about Fastrack but what I know about tubular track by Lionel or the post war O gauge track it don't matter about putting an uncoupling track next to an O gauge tubular switch.
FYI, I have tried Fastrack and I wasn't impressed by it even 1%.
When you mix and match track(027 or O gauge and Gargraves) it may matter more about using accessory type tracks near a switch. Another thing I learned about Gargraves track and Lionel track together make sure you have about two feet or more of track after the adapter useage and the Gargraves switch or you may have a derailment.

Since it just started doing it, check the pilot truck closely and see if the spring is weak or something else looks amiss.
