This is an MTH 20-3001-1 UP Challenger from 1994. The tender is an MTH N&W from who knows where and when. What do I need to hook these together? Any chance in asking for a part number and/or parts supply house? Thanks for any help

You are missing the draw bar for sure , plus a screw of some sort . Maybe GunrunnerJohn can help you out !
I happen to have that exact model, and the locomotive has the drawbar with a spring to tension it and of course, a shoulder screw to capture it. The tender just has a pin for the drawbar to slip over. Since you have the drawbar on the tender, you're going to have to ad-lib.
I'd use a correctly sized screw for the hole about 1" long. Cut off the screw head and grind a slot in the top to be able to thread it into the hole. Heatshrink the screw's exposed threads up to the screwdriver slot, slap a little blue Loctite thread locker on it, and use that as the pin for the tender drawbar.
If it's too close, you'll have to fashion a hook of the correct length like Lionel locomotives. Secure that with the correct sized screw.
Any way you work it, you're going to have to "invent" the solution.
Why is he called the “Gunrunner “?

For what it's worth, I had a similar experience a couple years back:

That's just the kind of work I can do if parts aren't available. Thank you, GRJ.
Well, since you're not connecting to a tender with the proper pin, you'd have to do some tinkering even if you obtained the drawbar parts for the locomotive.
When you finish, post a shot of your Norfolk and Western Challenger. I can almost guarantee that you'll have the only one. Going to freelance-RR it?
It looks like you have a Premier loco and a RailKing tender.
