I'd like to get a freight station or two and am torn between the #155 freight shed and this one shown below by Tintown. Anybody have experience with either or both?
Thanks,
John.

Thanks Ron. Checking this out. Nice to see other tinplate building makers other than Lionel. wayne
I like that freight shed. It's different.
I think the Tintown station looks nice. Not bad for the price point.
Tin Town looks nice but it is no 155. The 155 is a really robust piece and is 8.5" wide x 10.5 tall and 18" long with 2 lights. Nice thing on the 155 is that the platform is at the height of the doors on the passenger cars for easy passenger access...or at the floor height of freight cars.
I had thoughts of using the Tin town for a Passenger platform scene about 5 platforms long. My new plan for a Passenger scene is a wooden board painted and carved to look like an open concrete platform and covered with Barclay figures and some lights.
155 Platforms are a good value for a STG building. New street price is $270 and can be puchased on E-Bay for $150 to $250 all the time. They are for Freight thus higher for the Box car doors.
The Tintown platform is for passenger which would be a much lower platform about the height of the steps of the passenger cars.

Jim, funny that I have originals in nearly the same set up next to the roundhouse! Nice looking set up.
Condition tells the story on original 155s. Jim has the numbers about right... nearly the same for originals too - C6 in the 150-200 range, C7 in the 250-300 range.... though boxed early colors (like he showed) can hit $500.
I use a pair of late color 155s as my passenger platform next to my station. You can see them here starting about 1:19 to 1:39.
They floor height is just right for nearly every Standard gauge passenger set I have put next to them.
$300 for a freight shed? Pass.
Sidetrack Hobbies had two in stock for $161 apiece, I bought them both. Can't wait until they arrive.
John.
Now that's a deal !

Cool! That leaves more for me!
I received both of my freight sheds today and after looking at the receipt I realized I didn't pay $161 apiece, I only paid $144.90 each. Apparently they had a sale which was 10% off. Nice of them to honor the extra 10% off sale since I didn't know about it nor ask for it. I've always have had good experiences with Sidetrack Hobbies.

That's it. Got a postcard from Sidetrack the other day about their current 10 percent off sale.
I will be down in Southern Maryland over Memorial Day weekend and will hit Sidetrack on Saturday!
