I do very little with MTH and it seems that every time I do there's a problem. I have a PS3 SD70ACe, it lights up,the lights blink, it reverses, the horn blast works, the bell works but the diesel and braking sounds do not. I have no idea what to do to fix this and am hoping to get the answers here. Thanks Nick.

Have you performed an engine reset?
I don't know how to do that Lew, I'm 99% postwar Lionel and know very little about these. Can you tell me how to do it?
Do you have the DCS system, or are you running conventional mode with a transformer?
Nick, the way to perform a reset is determined by whether you are running conventional (using a conventional transformer) or DCS (using a Remote or a WiFi app), hence John's question.
I have a z-500 transformer that I am using.
All the sounds may not be available in conventional mode. I couldn't get the brake sounds when I did a brief test. However, the prime mover sounds certainly should be there. Did you turn the volume pot up full?
When you ask questions like this, the actual manufacturer's model number is kinda' handy.
Again, I'm not familiar with these and don't know what a volume pot is. I do have another diesel that works properly with the Z500. Also, I'm sorry in replying late but although I have notifications checked off I'm not getting the e-mails and have to keep checking back.
