I recently acquired an MTH F3, but the rear lip of the unit arrived damaged. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to best repair it? The lip is a little thick and I am afraid to pry it up without causing more damage or breaking it off.

My suggestion is to run liquid glue like Testors etc, in the crack and lift the piece back up. I am not sure what material MTH uses to mold bodies, this type glue might not work. Some train shells used AVS and only glues made for that material will hold.

MTH diesel shells should be ABS. I think Testors' is for styrene.

If it is ABS, then Either MEK or Acetone will weld it back together. Plastruct liquid plastic glue may work as well. MEK is hard to find and hassardous.
Oldbob is correct. A bottle of Plastruct liquid flowed into the crack.....gently push up on lip. This may do two things.....fix it pretty seamlessly or cause a stress crack and it will break off. Either way it may need a little 'finishing' to make it look right. The glue may also dis-color the plastic/paint.....but you already have an issue. Good luck.
