helping a friend out, need your help though

He just contacted me and said he has the box for both.  HE also has a bunch of cars he'd like to get sell too

Walt, the easiest way to find a starting price would be looking at the sold listings on ebay for each specific item or set.  The filter is called, "Show Only" and then you select sold.  Condition is everything.

The 2056 has some obvious cosmetic issues, but could still be a great runner.  One is similar condition with bent cab sold for $66 plus $14 shipping.

The 2056 steamer about $30-$40 in that condition.

I can't make out the switcher number or model.

The diesel is a #621 NW-2 switcher.

I think he would do well selling through you on the forum.  While they may not be top shelf collector condition, there are still many of us who enjoy running postwar locomotives.  Also, if you avoid the auction sites and sell on the forum, he won't have to pay any fees. 

The 621's sold listings are all over the place.  If I were to hazzard a guess based on the 1 photo, I would say somewhere close to $50.  If it is in better condition, you start climbing towards $100.  I am not an expert, just a guy trying to help a guy out based on ebay sold listings.

Thank you all for your help with this.  I will relay this thread to the friend.  I don't think he's a member on this forum but I like the idea a selling them here.  I'll suggest that he join, or I'll ask him if he wants for me to post them.

My first thought was to find a pricing guide, and then I remember my local train store owner said he would not even carry them anymore because they are so inaccurate. I would say eBay sold items is your best bet. Also, more pictures and descriptions of what works and doesn't work would help a lot.

sorry wb47, but here's how it went down.  My brother was asked by HIS friend if I wanted to buy these or if I knew anything about them, like their value.  So, NO, it isn't me trying to be tricky here.
