i met Henry in the early 90's when I was invited to "train night" a weekly event at several host's homes.
i was in the process of rebuilding a home in mid coastal Maine with plans to eventually build that first basement
layout in 3 rail. Henry not only was the originator of a Hugh HO empire run by guests in his basement, he was an avid Lionel trains collector, train runner, and repair service station, pre war, post war, etc. However his forte for designing Lionel layouts became a realityfor me and several friends in the area. He designed a couple of outstanding model railroads in HO as well. Henry had that gifted sense of design, an eye for the correct placement of track, turnouts and structures.
He was a long time member of TCA and I have good memories of times spent at the NETCA with him.
His 7 1/4 gage outdoor layout was a spectacular event for all steam meets annually with lots of notable engines arriving from other states. A very busy weekend for all. There was always a great banquet and rides for everyone from Fridays to Sundays. He was well known for fabrication of slip switches in this large gage.
In later times he was active as a conductor with the Maine coast railroad.
Henry will be missed by many. A lifetime well spent with railroading and friends
all you signals are green good buddy.
