Since Norfolk Southern's heritage units have been so well received and many fans are now awaiting their release in model form, I thought I'd share this website which tracks the locations of heritage and other units decorated in special liveries of not just NS but all roads:

Updates are provided regularly so information posted is reasonably current.

Enjoy,

If you're reading, here's your chance to see a heritage locomotive. The 8101, the Central of Georgia unit, was by South Plainfield on westbound 69Q about 45 minutes ago and is headed your way. You may want to head over to the tracks and see if you can get a look.

Good luck,

Hi, Jim.

No problem. The next opportunity is at hand. The 8114, wearing the livery of the original Norfolk Southern, was out of Buffalo today at 11AM. It is on 13T which terminates at Allentown. I'd expect the train to arrive in Allentown sometime during the overnight hours. The only question is the length of time the unit will lay over prior to being dispatched back out. It might be worth a look in the morning.

Good luck,

Unfortunately, the Android version of the NS app does not have two of the buttons - protect us and the Heritage Locomotive tracker. I already had the NS Corp app on my Android phone, and didn't realize until now the tracker part was not included in this version.

Gives me another reason to convert to the Iphone now that I am eligible for a new phone on my plan.
