I just watched the OGR video, Great Layout Adventures 8 in which you and your layout appear and I wanted to say that you have a wonderful space and that the layout itself is amazing, from that extremely long icing platform down to your highly detailed engine facility....I had to watch it a few times in a row to soak it all in.   It was very interesting to hear about your start and how you came to be at EMD, and how you became involved with the 49' and the AFT.  I got a huge kick out of you telling Rich the story about how your boss at EMD said to you "Hey I think we finally found something you can do"...not sure how I would have taken that either.   Well enough of my ramblings but I just wanted to tell you, you have a great layout, a great history and I enjoy all the information you provide here, I always learn something.  Thank You for taking the time here to share, and educate.

Oh, the photo of you and your grandson, and how he helped you are priceless.

Hey Hot Water,

My son is getting ready to graduate in June from UCLA.  He is applying for a Master's program at Northwestern University.  I know nothing about Illinois...and no...I haven't looked at an atlas yet (but I will).  I'm sure the boss and I will be visiting him a few times.  Is Chicago far from where you live?  I've never been to Illinois...but sometime...if it's close...I'd spring for the adult beverages just to see your layout. You'll have to come visit sometime when we have another Run Beer, Drink Trains session, next year.

Thank you for the invitation HW that would be great.

I know what you mean Joe, it's packed full of great detail from what I've seen, and as you said the weathering is top shelf.

Love to look at his layout. It has not only great modeling, but very tasteful weathering too.

Now, if I can just stay on his good side!

You are a great source of info and help!

(I still haven't swapped out my tender trucks or switched the clock position on my Allegheny's wheels )

You can get all the pics you want right here, on the OGR video. Available on DVD and Blu Ray.

YES, THIS is a really nice Layout, as Rich Melvin did a Remarkable Film Presentation, and one on one Interview...There is a lot of Really Neat Roundhouse Detailing with Turntable and all the Engine Facilities.. I would like very much to see this layout in person.

i might add that his table work and Train Room is really nice..Congratulations goes to the OGR FOLKS, and HOT WATER..THANKS.

Now why didn't I think of that! I'd better order one. I just have to figure out which layout belongs to "Hot Water". Hmmm, guessing Jack??

Did you go to the link I posted above? There is a COMPLETE DESCRIPTION of the video there. Like this, taken directly from our web store.

FOUR GREAT LAYOUTS on ONE VIDEO!

  • Jack Wheelihan's Central Connecting Railroad
See how a railroader runs his trains. Jack's story is almost as interesting as his layout!

As a special BONUS FEATURE, you can see Jack's entire conversation with OGR Publisher Rich Melvin as they talk about running steam locomotives, the American Freedom Train and Jack's career with EMD delivering new diesels to railroads all over the country.

  • Pat & Jean Marinari's Hodgson Valley Railroad
This happy husband and wife team created a large O scale layout that runs beautifully and is a delight to see in action!

  • Ron Zweig's Layout
Conventional control is alive and well on Ron's layout. And you won't believe his story about the home he and his wife live in. Only in the movies...

  • Bob Cebula's O Gauge in a Small Space
Bob has built a highly detailed layout that looks a lot bigger than it really is. There are little details everywhere you look. Bob's heartfelt story will captivate you, too.

Available in letter-boxed Standard Definition on DVD or in full 1080i High Definition on Blu Ray
