There I was, walking through the halls, minding my own business, having a great time when I went to the booth promoting the 2015 TCA convention in NJ and started talking to Stu Rankin. Now Stu is the President of METCA and one of the good guys (yes there are lots of good guys). I had to figure out how to get something to him which I donated to METCA and decide if I was going to buy another 2015 shirt (I bought one at the 2014 convention just outside Philly).
Anyway, while I was standing there talking to Stu, Bernie Callen wandered over and said to me, "you're going to help with the 2015 convention, aren't you?" Now, my hearing isn't so good, and I wasn't sure if Bernie was asking a question or simply making a statement. But it took me about a quarter of a nano second to think about it and say that I would be glad to help out. When you think about all the volunteers who do things like run York and other train events, then think about how much you enjoy those events, it's really hard (and IMO incredibly stupid) to say "no".
So i look forward to helping make the 2015 TCA Convention THE BEST EVER and hope that a lot of you will also volunteer to assist. And that all of you will all certainly sign up and come to the convention. I do know that we will be having a couple of shows at the NJ HiRailers (shameless plug), and unlike Trainstock, there is NO chance of snow.
