Let me tease the mind of you railroad aficionados.
Let's imagine...
I'm in a town called Litchfield, Illinois, (about 50 miles SSE of Springfield) circa 1930. What train could I take from there to go to Philadelphia or maybe New York. I know from some research that Litchfield was a Wabash Railway stop and I remember taking the train once from Litchfield in the 1940s to somewhere on the west coast. But I'm so old I don't remember the details on that one. I think we took the train back one time too. And we flew back from Long Beach in a hair raising thunderstorm excursion one time in a TWA DC-3.
Anyway, what railway train would go from Litchfield to Philadelphia. Which engine (I presume steam) would it be? Would the cars all be Pullmans as I doubt the newer cars were extant by then?
Thanks.
Jim
