HO scale signs on top of D56 buildings?

I have some HO signs. I have a "D56" fire station with a flat roof. Athearn had some HO outdoor signs which I trim the base for them to fit. Change according to what I am running: PRR for the East, RI for the west, Operation Lifesaver for modern era. Anybody do the same?

The Athearn HO billboards make excellent roof top signs in O scale. New advertising is cut from magazines and applied with white glue.
