HO with DCS..Check track

clean track and clean train wheels.

I had the same problem with my O Scale.  I ended up hooking up a couple sections of track by themselves and added the engin that way.  Once I hooked the TIU back to the layout there was no problem.

Thanks for the response...i have cleaned the track...and all the locos wheels.....i took it down to three tiny sections of track...and i continue to get "check track" everytime...

Any other ideas?

Does it run fine in conventional?  Can be a wiring bundle interference with the board in the tender.  Or it could be a bad board.  G

So i just checked the signal strength...its 2...ontop of where the power comes onto the rails...i have the magic light plugged into the TIU also....any ideas why the signal strength is sooo bad? im assuming this is whats making my train run all wonky

Connect the TIU's remote Input port to the remote with a 4-conductor telephone handset (curly) cord and try again.

connected remote to tiu with phone cord same thing. This is happening with all trains. i switch from DCS output 1 to 2...when i go to 2 the trains starts uo immediately when powere is applied to the TIU..then when i try and do things it reports TIU error...so i moved back to DCS output/input 1 and everything works i just have horrid signal and it wont read the train in right.

Thoughts? i did factory reset the TIU FWIW but nothing changed

When you use Fixed 2, you still need to power the Fixed 1 input to get power to run the TIU, or you need to use the AUX Power input.

I would power fixed 1 and run a jumper to fix 2 input.  I would use fix 2 output and test again.  If that works, you have a signal issue on fixed 1 which is fixable.  If it still doesn't work, I would try to test trains some where less to make sure it is fine, or take TIU for test.  Does sound like a TIU or wiring to track issue.  Need to make sure the track or track wiring is not killing the DCVS signal.  G

ok jumped from input1 to input2...put train on output 2.....reads train in without name etc still...and reads TIU error instead of check track before it adds the train as address 1

Are you waiting long enough for the caps to charge up?

Shaun,  What Dave means is that you need to give the engine a few moments for the internal capacitor to charge up. Can take several seconds or sometimes longer.

That's only necessary if operating conventionally.
