Picked this up over the weekend at the Great Train Expo over the weekend.
Been wanting one for years, so it was nice to get a pretty decent one that is
in running condition after a bit of cleaning. The loco was missing the coupler,
so a Hafner coupler is doing stand in duty.

Social media, so I can't open it. Too bad. I met a guy named Hoge in the Chicago area who was collecting Hoge stuff. He was an acquaintance of Tasker Brush, well
known Chicago Marx collector. I sold Mr. Hoge a wind-up Hoge toy submachine gun.
No idea, and didn't think to ask, if he was descended from the toy maker. Only Hoge
item I have found, besides Hoge trains seen in shows.
Love the sound, Steve - part rattly tin, part growl! Unusual, and appears in very nice condition. I like that it's a different looking design from most everything else we see.

How does the size of the Tom Thumb compare to Marx 6" tin stuff? Is it smaller than that?

Here is a picture with a 6" caboose. They are very close in length, but the Marx is a fair bit taller.
