Every year Bobby Daniels of Bevell's Hardware in Blackstone, VA. features a fantastic 3 rail layout in his store. This year he has outdone himself with a 20 x 56' layout with incredible detail. It is open to the public until Jan 8. If you live anywhere near central Virginia it is a "must see". The address is 109 N. High Street, Blackstone, VA 23824. I took these pictures shortly after it opened:

As you can see from the pictures, this is not a typical "store layout". Ron Timma has a nice photo from last year's layout in this issue (Jan) of OGR on page 18 of the Reader's Rails section. I have a couple more pictures in of this year's layout in the photo album section of the forum.

They start working on it in October and take it down in Jan. Bobby tells me that they need the space for the spring patio items. They do plan to keep the new detailed center section in the store all year round. I think they plan to leave it against one wall of the store throughout the year.

I must echo Tom's comments. Bobby has consistently outdone himself since he started doing the layout in the 70s/80s. It is not just fantastic; it is awesome, excellent, jaw-dropping, outstanding, stupendous, wonderful, and just downright cool!!! Smile Smile Smile

I can't wait to see it this year! One of the cool things about this year's layout is that it is a layout within a layout. Bobby acquired a gentleman's layout earlier this year and "merged" it into the one you see pictured in this thread.

If you are in the Blackstone area (about an hour to an hour and a quarter from Richmond), it is definitely worth seeing it in action! I highly recommend it!
