I bought a O scale ruler the other day and was sizing up some figures I bought on E-bay some time ago. I found that altho, the "Homies" Figures are being sold as "O-scale". They are closer to Standard Gauge. On the ruler, they are about 7 scale feet tall, which does not work for O Scale buildings & cars. The ruler also has two figures on it, a 5'6" man and a 6'7" man and a door which is 6'8"(standard building door) which is helpful. I found the ruler on E-Bay, if you are unsure of a figure's height, this ruler is a good tool to have, saves buying figures that are not scale.

Dr. Fu-Manchu, When my annual LCCA card arrives, on the reverse I place three marks from one edge. 1 1/2" representing the height of a 6' tall person, at 2" which represents the 96" width of a 1970s and before semi trailer, and at 2 1/2 inches to represent a 10' wide flat car. I usually have the card in my wallet when shopping and use it as a gauge to determine if people and equipment are close to scale. John in Lansing, ILL
(O scale ruler) Maybe you could send a Picture of this Rule your talking about here.
So, if I see one on e-bay again, I would be able to purchase one for myself.
Thank ,John
If you put the Homies in a group alone or not too close to a structure or train, you can sneak them in. I put some of the dogs on station platform and they looked liked lions. The people are Sasquatch size on a O scale layout.
The way I look at it, some people in this world have always been referred to as being "bigger than life". My Homies certainly qualify!

They may be too big, but they are still hilarious. Jim Policastro uses them very effectively in their own little vignettes.
There just aren't many unique o scale figure options so on this one I believe some are willing to ignore the giganticism and carry on.
Thanks for the tip about the ruler.
Ever ruler is a O scale ruler. 1/4" equals a foot.....pretty easy. Unlike HO that is helpful to have a scale rule.....
Homies ar a bit large for me.....but to each his own.

Great idea! I just plagiarized it using my TCA card.

They're especially good to use in large open areas. Probably look better isolated "with their own kind," and not mixed in with, say, Arttista type, more traditional O scale figures. Another nice thing is that because of their size and weight, they're free standing, so you can easily move them around, add or subtract them to freshen things up if you want. (For example, once word got around that the food trucks were congregating here at the NJ Hi-Railers, the crowd below thickened considerably!)

There's a a ruler app for your phone that lets you install a ruler for scales Z thru G. Hold figure next to "O" scale ruler and determine how tall figure might be in "real life".
I bought a whole bag of them (over 100) off eBay for $20. Technically I think they are best described as "H" scale (Homie). Several of the clowns are already set aside for a project I'm working on...
I LOVE my HOMIES and they always bring some fun conversation when I place them on our kids club display at the different shows we go to. At the one show we had a young photographer who took several pictures of the ones he really liked. Maybe not to scale but a lot of fun if placed in the right spots on a layout.
Homies make a layout whimsical and fun. If your looking for scale perfection I would suggest spending some money and buying Arttista figure's which range from $5 to $9 each.
I am unable to photograph the ruler(no digital camera) But here is the E-Bay seller: mcedro. He has some O Scale rulers on a Buy it now. He also has other items and may have rulers in S Scale. He has some detail items for layout too. Hope this helps.
Homies are fun. The prototype (us) is fast catching up to Homie size.
