After reading a few other posts, I got to wondering how the majority of the folks on the forum hook up their Base2 or Base3 to the layout when also using MTH DCS TIU's. Do you run wire(s) to the layout outside rail? or do you run wires to the needed TIU output posts. Just curious as to what your experiences are with signal interference, strength etc if any. Thanks.

When I had the Base2, it was added in after I had been using the DCS TIU for a while. I just ran the wire to the outside rail. Since this time, the layout has greatly expanded. I’m using all 4 TIU channels for 3 different track loops and an engine yard. I also replaced my MTH realtrax with gargraves at about the same time the Base3 arrived. So…..I am rethinking all the hookups after a few years of trial and error. I have basically sent the wire from the U post of the Base3 to the common posts on the 4 distribution blocks that feed the various track blocks on the layout. This has worked well so far. No legacy signal issues.
